Frequently asked questions
At this time, I don't have a physical location where I can see clients. I've chosen to provide only telehealth services as I find that they actually provide several benefits over traditional in-person appointments. Additionally, my telehealth practice allows me to provide services across the United States, increasing access to care.
Benefits:
Time: In-person appointments require time to get to and from the appointment. With telehealth, the commute time is only the time it takes to log on to your device. This saves you time and cost of transportation (gas) in the long run.
Consistency: It's easier to keep regular appointments when you don't have to plan on how to get from one place to your appointments each week.
Comfort: You can attend your appointment from the comfort of your own home.
Effective: Research shows that it's as effective and in-person, and in my own research I found that clients reported a stronger working relationship with their therapist over telehealth than in person.
Your treatment cost will depend on the type of treatment requested; most treatment lasts between 8 and 18 sessions. This could be shorter or longer depending on your needs and desire to continue treatment.
The No Surprises Act requires that private-pay clients are provided with an estimate of the expected costs for mental health services. My initial session fee is listed on this site, and at the end of that appointment we will agree on a treatment plan. I will then provide you with a documented Good Faith Estimate, that outlines the cost of treatment based on the expected number of appointments we expect are needed. If we determine we need more sessions, then you would be provided an updated Good Faith Estimate.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the charge through a federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and is based on the information that is known at the time it's completed.
I am a private-pay and may meet the criteria for an out of network provider for insurance providers that accept my services. There are pros and cons to both private pay and insurance benefits, and we can discuss this in more detail during your free consultation.
If you wanted to see if you could get out of network benefits, you would need to reach out to your insurance company and ask about your coverage--each person's plans are different, so your insurance company is best to provide you with those details. If you are interested, I can give you a brief guide to the types of questions you would want to ask your insurance carrier.
If my services are covered by your insurance, then you would still have to pay me directly for your appointments. I would give you a detailed receipt (a superbill) that you would be responsible for submitting to your insurance company to seek reimbursement.
Similar to insurance, you would need to check to see if your medical spending account will accept me as a provider covered by your plan. The superbill typically includes the type of information your medical spending account would request when submitting for direct reimbursement.
It’s essential that you and your therapist share a clear understanding of your goals and the approach that will best support you. Effective therapy also depends on the right fit—trust, comfort, and interpersonal style all play an important role in the work we do together. My priority is ensuring you receive the care that truly meets your needs. If at any point we determine that another therapist may be a better match, I will support you in finding someone who is the right fit.
I understand that plans sometimes need to change and thing can come up suddenly that keep you from attending your appointment. Because your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, I ask that you provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance These will not be billed.
Cancellations made between 1 and 24 hours before your appointment These will be billed at the full session rate.
No-shows (no contact and do not attend scheduled appointment) These will be billed at the full session rate.
If you cancel or do not attend two consecutive appointments, or if you miss more than three appointments over the course of treatment, we will schedule a brief phone consultation before booking any additional sessions. This helps ensure you receive the consistency and support needed for effective care.
The free consultation is a 15-minute meeting where we meet one another, and you can ask any questions you may have about my practice or the treatments I offer. This meeting is held over a secure video platform for your convenience.
There is no commitment required—it's simply an opportunity to explore whether working together feels like the right fit for you.
